Distance between earth and sun

According to the latest report given by NASA,the distance between earth and sun is 149,600,000 kilometers (km) or 92,900,000 miles.But you all will be thinking that what does it relate to our religion or this blog.

It not only relates but is also a matter of pride of our Sanatan Dharma that how much advanced is our religion.

At the time when the whole world did'nt even know to survive,we were so developed in every field of life that we calculated the distance between sun and earth.

The proof of the above observation can be found in one line of Hanuman Chalisa  which was written by tulsidas many hundred years ago.Those lines are-

जुग (युग) सहस्त्र जोजन (योजन) पर भानु।

लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू।।

Meaning- Hanumanji went to the sun(Bhanu) situated at a distance of Yug Sahastra Yojan and ate the sun considering it as a sweet fruit.

Now i will give you the calculations behind the above sanskrit text:-

According to Hindu Mythology-

1 Yug = 12000 years

1 Sahastra = 1000

1 Yojan = 8 Miles

Yug x Sahastra x Yojan = par Bhanu

12000 x 1000 x 8 miles = 96,000,000 miles

1 mile = 1.6kms

96,000,000 miles x 1.6kms = 1,536,000,000 kms / 96,000,000 miles to Sun

The above distance is approximately equal to the one calculated by NASA.
